Our economy runs on tourism dollars, but our quality of life runs on something else: livable neighborhoods, reliable infrastructure, clean water, sane traffic solutions, and city leadership that tells the truth—even when it’s inconvenient.
I am running to do the work: listen, read the fine print, ask the hard questions, and make decisions that keep Sedona beautiful, functional, and financially strong
Vote for me in the Sedona City Council election which is July 21, 2026
Dear Friends and Neighbors of Sedona,
My name is Tony Hauserman, I'm known by many as "Coach Tony," and I’m running for Sedona City Council because serving others has shaped my entire life — and Sedona is the community that shaped my heart.
I’ve been privileged to serve in many roles. As a U.S. Naval aviator and instructor, I learned responsibility, teamwork, and calm decision-making under pressure. Flying million-dollar jets for FedEx around the world taught me precision, accountability, and respect for systems that must work every time. But some of my proudest moments came right here at home — coaching high school football and youth soccer in Sedona, helping young people learn confidence, discipline, and the value of looking out for one another.
I’m also a biologist, with a lifelong love of nature and living creatures — especially the desert wildlife that makes Sedona unique. That passion is why, when a rattlesnake shows up where it shouldn’t, the police have called me to safely remove it. To me, this is helping people when you can and serving your community.”
I’m not running because I think I have all the answers. I’m running because I listen, I serve, and I love this place. I would be honored to earn your trust on July 21, 2026.
With gratitude,
"Coach" Tony Hauserman

I’m running for Sedona City Council because this community has given me so much, and I feel a deep responsibility to give back through service.
As a coach, a pilot, and a neighbor, I’ve always believed in showing up, doing the work, and putting people first. Running a grassroots campaign takes resources, and your donation—of any size—will help me reach more voters and share my vision for thoughtful, steady leadership that protects Sedona’s character and future.
I would be honored to have your support and your trust.
I have coached young people in Sedona for over 10 years, from little kids playing soccer to high school seniors playing varsity football. I have been privileged to help shape our youth experience and prepare young people for life through sports.
Competitive team sports teach people how to be gracious in victory and classy in defeat. They teach us how to get back up after being knocked down and to help others do the same. We learn to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
These lessons help individuals through challenging times in life and can help high school graduates develop the discipline for college success, an appreciation for work ethic, and the ability to handle the ups and downs life brings.

I spent the majority of my working life as an airline pilot for FedEx. I have served as a second officer and first officer on the Boeing 727 and as a first officer and captain on the Airbus A-300.
My time flying in the airlines taught me about teamwork, precision planning, and the need for flawless execution. It also taught me the importance of both the roles as a leader (captain) and a supporter (first officer).
As the captain, all responsibility lies in your hands for on-time, safe operations. Every choice you make impacts safety and efficiency. As a first officer, you don’t make those decisions, but you learn how to give advice with good communication and to live with the authority of someone else who ultimately decides whether or not to take your advice.
I find both of these skills important as we go through life, whether we are members of a group or leaders.

FedEx A-300 flown by Tony thousands of times.
My time as a Naval Aviator lasted about 11 years on active duty and in the Naval Reserve. I flew in the backseat (radar intercept officer) of the F-14 Tomcat on and off the U.S.S. Nimitz while stationed in San Diego with squadron VF-211. Afterward, I was assigned as an instructor in the aggressor squadron, VF-126, helping pilots and RIOs prepare for combat operations.
Earning my Navy Wings, becoming a commissioned officer, and serving my country were the greatest honors of my life. The camaraderie in a military unit is second to none. The hard work, dedication, and effort to be the best you can be are critical to life-saving support of your fellow unit members.
Whether it's an aviation squadron, a crew on a ship at sea, or a combat infantry unit, there is no room for poor performance without endangering your fellow crew members. I have seen the ultimate sacrifice our service members have made, and it humbles me to know that the freedom we enjoy in our country depends on it.

I have a BS degree in Biology and a lifetime interest in Herpetology (the study of reptiles and amphibians). While I chose a different career path, my interest in wildlife and ecology has never faltered.
Upon moving to Sedona, I volunteered with the Sedona Police Department to remove unwanted reptile visitors from residences and performed this service for several years. This allowed me to teach residents about our local snakes and how to live with them safely and harmoniously. It also allowed me to keep the animals safe and release them back into the wild where they belong.
My interest has taken me all around the world on reptile safaris, and I’ve been lucky enough to interact with an amazing variety of reptiles, including Komodo dragons, cobras, mambas, Nile crocodiles, and many vipers, among others.
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but nothing makes me happier than to be on a night trek in a jungle, come across a beautiful arboreal pit viper, and get to hang out with it while it tolerates my presence.

As many of you know, I’ve spent much of my life here in our community as a coach, mentor, and neighbor, and I care deeply about the future of Sedona and the Verde Valley.
I’m running for Sedona City Council because I believe our community deserves thoughtful leadership, practical solutions, and a council that truly listens to its residents.
I would be honored to have your endorsement and your support as we work together to protect what makes Sedona special while planning responsibly for our future.
I hope I can count on your support..... Tony

From Late May to the election on July 21, you can put a yard sign for Tony in your yard to share your support with your neighbors.
